Welcome to St Michael’s Catholic Academy…    News…

Message from Head of School:

May I extend to you a very warm welcome to St Michael’s Catholic Academy.

Andrew Ramsey

As Head of St. Michael’s I am privileged to lead the vision, hopes and expectations of a progressive Catholic Academy where each student belongs, is uniquely valued and achieves their very best. We strive to place Christ at the centre of all we do and to aim high in our expectations and our achievements.

I believe the ‘soul’ of any Academy is a Vision, based on clear and shared values, which will drive all we can achieve together. A ‘values based’ vision impacts positively on all outcomes through the relationships we share. The values of love, forgiveness and justice for all governs our relationships, our thinking and our behaviours.

Christ modelled to the world how to ‘Act justly, Walk humbly, Love tenderly’ (Micah 6:8) so that we can have life in abundance and create a better future for all. Nothing short of an outstanding Academy is our aspiration and our mission.

Choosing an Academy is perhaps the most important decision a parent and carer will make. Our Academy is more than a place where students learn – it’s a place where they grow. As parents, we want to help our children grow in faith as well as knowledge. We want them to make choices informed by facts, but also grounded by a deep sense of morality. We try to nurture their abilities, so that as they mature and search for answers to questions, they can discover the unique purpose of their lives.

At St. Michael’s, we believe that students experience this kind of growth in an educational tradition firmly rooted in the life and teachings of Christ. We are a Catholic Academy centred in His Gospel message of compassion, respect and service to others. Working together in partnership, in our parishes and communities, we will cultivate these core values, encouraging each student’s spiritual and academic development.

As our students grow in responsibility, leadership and understanding, the desire to do what is right grows within them. We are a student-centred Academy, where our students learn to work to their fullest potential, to believe in themselves and to share their God-given talents.

Lessons and learning in St Michael’s Catholic Academy will be engaging, relevant, accessible and stretching. We are an Academy where our corridors are full of the ‘buzz of expectation’ and classrooms are full of the ‘buzz of purpose’. As students, staff, families, governors and parishes move forward together in true partnership, we will achieve the outstanding future which is surely ours. There is no greater cause.

With all good wishes.

Andrew Ramsey
